Apple and Google Wallet loyalty platforms compared on features and price

By The Digicard team · Published 15 Oct 2026 · Facts checked

The short answer

For a café with 300 regulars a month, a year costs US$72 on Digicard, US$300 on Loopy Loyalty, US$537 on PassKit and US$2,388 on Boomerangme. At three branches with 2,000 regulars it is US$480, US$828, US$1,898 and US$2,388.

The gap comes from what each one bills for. Flat plans cost the same in a quiet month. PassKit bills every card ever issued until it's deleted. Digicard bills only cards used that month. If you're happy on a one-location Loopy Starter plan, switching saves US$228 a year. That may not be worth asking every customer to add a new card.

On features: pick Boomerangme if you need SMS and email campaigns or referrals today, and the price fits. Pick PassKit if you have developers and want an API across many pass types. Pick Loopy Loyalty for a simple stamp card with geo-fenced messages and data export. Pick Digicard for stamp, points or paid-membership cards that work at every branch, per-branch reward stock, a scanner that works offline, and billing only for cards used that month. Its marketing and integration gaps are marked Planned.

What Digicard does beyond the card

  • Branches. One card works at every branch, and each branch keeps its own reward stock.
  • Offline scanning. Staff scan from a browser, and scans made during a dropped connection are sent when it comes back.
  • A counter board. Upload your own A4 artwork with a QR code in it, or use a built-in design, and print it up to A2.
  • Cards that expire properly. Stamps or points can expire on a rolling window, and memberships can run for a fixed term.

What switching platforms involves

  1. Set up the new card with the same reward rule.
  2. Tell customers at the counter and by message on the old card, if your platform allows it, that their next stamp goes on the new one.
  3. Carry balances over when each customer first scans the new card, or import your member list.
  4. Cancel the old plan once the last rewards on it are redeemed. Flat plans are usually billed a month or a year ahead.

Questions

What is the cheapest Apple Wallet and Google Wallet loyalty platform for a small café?

For a café with 300 regulars a month, Digicard costs US$72 a year, Loopy Loyalty US$300, PassKit US$537 and Boomerangme US$2,388, each on its month-to-month price.

Why does PassKit cost more as time goes on?

PassKit bills US$0.045 for each pass record above the 250 its platform fee includes, at the 251–2,500 tier, and a record counts whether or not the customer still uses the card, until it is deleted. A café that keeps carding new customers sees the bill rise every month.

Can I move my loyalty cards from another wallet platform to Digicard?

Customers add a new card, because a wallet pass is tied to the platform that issued it. Their balances can come with them: staff add existing stamps when a customer first scans the new card, or we import your member list.

Does Digicard charge for cards nobody uses?

No. Digicard bills Active Cards only: cards with at least one stamp, reward, message or other recorded event in the month.

Can I send push notifications to customers?

Yes, with a wallet card or an app; not with paper. Digicard puts a message on one customer’s card or on every cardholder’s card, and the phone shows it as a notification. SMS and email campaigns are planned.

Does Digicard integrate with my POS?

Not yet. POS integrations, an API with webhooks, and Zapier or Make are planned. Today staff scan the customer’s card from a phone or tablet in the browser beside the till, which needs no integration.

How we compared this

Prepared by The Digicard team. Digicard sells wallet loyalty cards, so read this as a vendor's comparison: every competitor price below links to the vendor's own pricing page and the day we checked it. If a price has changed, tell us at support@digicard.tech and we will correct the page.

Features

  • Competitors' features come from their own pricing and product pages, linked below. “Not stated” means the page didn't say, not that the feature is missing.
  • Digicard's “Yes” means it is live today. “Planned” means we are building it and it is not available yet.
  • “Your own app” can do almost anything if you pay to build it, so most of its cells say so rather than Yes or No.

The businesses we priced

  • One café: 1 location, 300 customers using their card each month, 600 customers carded over the year.
  • Three branches: 3 locations, 2,000 customers using their card each month, 4,000 customers carded over the year.

Assumptions

  • Costs are for the first 12 months, using each vendor's month-to-month price. Most offer a discount for paying a year up front.
  • Paper: 1.5 cards printed per carded customer a year (everyone gets one; half need another because theirs filled up or got lost). Stamps, punches and staff time are not counted.
  • Your own app: an agency's published build estimate plus Apple and Google developer fees. Hosting, maintenance, updates and marketing the download are not counted, and they are ongoing.
  • Wallet platforms: the cheapest plan that covers the number of locations. PassKit is priced with one staff login per location, with every card issued during the year still on file.
  • Digicard: billed on Active Cards, the cards with at least one stamp, reward or message in the month. Philippine prices include 12% VAT; US prices are before sales tax, which varies by state.
  • Currency: each vendor's own billing currency is exact. The other column is converted at ₱62.756 = US$1, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas reference exchange rate on 25 Sep 2026.
